Privacy Policy
LAST UPDATED · 21 JULY 2026
This policy explains what information Placardo (“we”, “us”) collects when you use placardo.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
- Account details — your email address and sign-in identity, managed by our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Your content — photos you upload, the prompts you write, the posters you generate and edit, and your brand kit (colors, fonts, logo).
- Billing information — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep only your subscription status and Stripe customer reference.
- Usage records — generation and edit counts for quota metering, and standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and debugging.
2. How we use your information
- To run the service: storing your photos, generating and rendering designs.
- To meter plan quotas and process subscription billing.
- To secure the service: rate limiting, abuse and fraud prevention.
- To help you when you contact support.
- We do notsell your personal information, and we don't use your photos or designs for advertising.
3. AI processing
Poster generation is powered by Anthropic's Claude models. When you generate or refine a design, your prompt and (downscaled copies of) your uploaded photos are sent to Anthropic's API to compose and review the design. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models. Background removal and image analysis otherwise run on our own infrastructure.
4. Where your data lives
Your photos and exports are stored in Amazon Web Services (S3) in the Sydney, Australia region. Other service providers we rely on may process data outside Australia (primarily in the United States):
- Clerk — authentication
- Stripe — payments
- Vercel — application hosting
- Neon — database
- Anthropic — AI generation
- Upstash — rate limiting
We choose providers with strong security practices and share only what each needs to do its job.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies only — the session cookies our authentication provider needs to keep you signed in. We don't run advertising trackers.
6. Retention and deletion
- You can delete uploaded images and projects in the app at any time; deleting an image removes it and its derived versions from storage.
- To delete your account and all associated content, email support@placardo.com — we'll complete the deletion within 30 days, except for records we must keep (like tax records of payments).
- Backups age out on a rolling basis after deletion.
7. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Content is stored in access- controlled buckets and databases, payment details never touch our servers, and access to production systems is limited. No internet service can promise perfect security, but if we become aware of a breach affecting your data we'll notify you as required by law.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@placardo.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can complain to us first, and to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). If you're in a jurisdiction with additional rights (such as the GDPR), we'll honour the rights that apply to you.
9. Children
Placardo is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as the product evolves and note the date at the top. For material changes we'll give notice in the app or by email.
